Head hung low
I beg forgiveness
for recent betrayals
for failures of art
for distracted busyness.

She moves away more slowly
less hurt in her silky eyes
breath of forgiveness perhaps
as, when I reach out to catch her,
she gives me one awkward poem to eat.
