Shannon’s Sonnet

So many people need some worthy thing
A job, a child, a healing of the heart,
But cannot get that thing they need or may
See long delays in what they need to start.
So many of these people share their smiles,
Their talents, their place in the world, goodwill-
I love and wish them well and happy, too,
But can’t help them to make their wish fulfilled.
There’s one such lovely person, a true gift
To music and to teaching and to me:
Dear Shannon, open-hearted, skilled in laughter,
I wish you everything you wish to be.
You know what’s best is what will come to you,
So joyful days cannot help but ensue.
