Lindsay’s Sonnet

Once we gathered feathers softly fallen
From thoughts and meditations of the heart,
A home whose welcome is held ever open
To any needing Love’s warm healing art:
A generous offer of most joyful friendship
That starts and ends in light-filled honesty,
So binding varied creatures tight together
That they can recognize their harmony.
Those self-made shadows sent a quiet echo
Over miles and borders of all kinds
Until a sister’s kiss, embrace and laughter
Proved true what we’d suspected of our minds:
Two like minds and, indeed, heart’s celebrations
Differ just in outward decorations.
