Safety Pin Song

The hoods are off
their faces bare.
At last they can’t
hide anywhere.
Their hatred now
is clear, at least.
We hear the growling
of the Beast.

No time for fear
or doubting that
Love Still Trumps Hate
And, more than that,
the time is Now
to really see
connections between
you and me.

A safety pin’s
a paltry thing
but offers some
real sheltering
in times like this
when hatred’s bold,
and evil words
make our world cold.

So take my hand,
come sing with me
until you feel
again you’re free
to live your life
just as you please-
a singer in
our harmonies.
