Blame (sonnet)

Who’s now to blame? Ourselves? The cool centrist?
The boiling anger of covert racists?
Grey-bearded men duped by economists?
The long-time Democrat apologist?
Or is it Christians who were given lists
Of reasons hatred’s good, righteously pissed,
Who scurried out to vote for what they’d missed:
The silent power of their tight-closed fist?
Refusing to see that we coexist
With fearful hate in many who insist
The gay man, immigrant, the feminist
Have ruined dreams for which they’d reminisced,
We all let Evil win-it does exist.
Its coldest face now leers: the Narcissist.
