Oops. (A parenting sonnet)

“Our family’s good at other things,” we said,
And even taught our little son to say
When graphic arts were put on the agenda
Of school or after-school or even play.
How narrow-minded! Now I see we suffered
From thinking only of one kind of art,
Of one type of perspective, wheel of color,
Though graphics offer only one small start.
Now older, we’ve all grown in understanding
As music colors every day with sound,
And living paintings grow, palettes expanding
With every seedling breaking through the ground-
Most magical of all, his neuroscience
Describes the source of all arts in alliance.
