Hordes of anxious sparrows fight
Each one seeking the sole right
To all the perches, all the seed,
Waste more food than what they need.
We, too, fight and yell and swear
As if Evil were not there,
Cheering our disunity
To create dark treachery.
For now, please, let’s put aside
Our disappointment and our pride
In favor of keeping our nation
Away from Evil’s degradation.
Watch the sparrows: see how they
End up throwing more away,
Feed the ground squirrels what should be
Food to fuel their flying free?
Do we not have greater minds
Than these silly bird brained kind?
Will we throw the good away
For dreams of a perfect day?
