Perspective, a sonnet

This web, a miracle of living worlds
Spins all at once, not part by separate part;
One star, this Sun shines hot as wild winds cool
Each continent, each branch, each beating heart.
Our own lives wildly spin and dip and turn:
We think them most important, more than all
The systems made of leaves and fur and stone,
The heaving seas, the moon, the waterfall.
But sit and breathe the soft air for an hour,
Let pass the breeze, the sunlight and the shower
Until you know the true interconnection
Of all and you become the light’s reflection.
This world’s a single gemstone and we are
One tiny facet only, not its star.
