Wind (sonnet)

This wind, like water, rolls in cooling waves,
Its ebb and flow on skin like love’s caress.
A river as it flows through tops of trees,
It clears the worried mind of jagged stress.
Listen closely: hear the ocean speak,
Whispering of its own deep delight,
How the water mirrors the wind’s touch,
Dancing both together day and night.
Look up now and see the crow and hawk,
Surfing on the movement of the air,
Effortless, they glide as if in play
Static-winged, as if just hanging there.
There’s peace in listening to breezes sing
Their fluid love songs sung to everything.
