Sleep (love sonnet for my husband)

Silky touch of peaceful spirit falls
all feather-soft as fractal-rich dreams call
to sweeten darkness, brush away all fears,
kaleidoscopic vision of dreams nears.
Thus sweet disorders range throughout the night,
eliminate confusion from daylight,
let clarity command the thoughts of day
when nighttime images are put away.
We call it resting soft in Morpheus’ arms
away from daytime’s bright, sensible charms,
but I know better just whose arms they be
that made this soft, dark chamber just for me:
No greater kindness can a husband-friend
provide than sweet sleep at the long day’s end.
