Blessings

Snow makes blessings visible:
tracks of rabbits in the night
dogprints like flowers
prints of boots that later
will turn toward home with joy.

Cold makes blessings tangible:
warm breath of sleeping dogs
comforting embrace in the night
privilege of home with walls
that keep icy breezes out.

Rain makes blessings grow:
seeds crack and roots reach down
vines aspire to the very sun
chickadees dance in the trees
sing of the promised Spring.

Every season has its light
to show the blessings
surrounding, abounding
in this shining life.
