Long Distance is No Distance

Summer sun touches us
On this cold, wet day
In the smoky taste
Of these roasted poblanos.

Our son’s smile reaches us
From a far country
In the flurry of photographs
We see every day.

Silly smiles and raucous laughing
Tease us to laughter, too
In the electronic embrace
With daughters and their children.

So if I can feel your touch
On my skin and in my mind
Through these silky bonds of love,
We know that’s true, too.
