First Times (sonnet)

So many precious first times I recall
That no one moment overshadows all;
The first electric touch of your warm hand,
The swift connection neither of us planned.
We gave each other everything we had
So early our behavior seemed quite mad
Though intuition was, for once, correct,
In telling us to hurry and connect.
We both assumed with age we would slow down,
That maybe even our heat would have flown;
Now we know inevitable change,
But even greater love in broader range.
Those first times never really have to end
When to hot love we add the depth of friends.
