Quantum Sonnet (unfinished)

Our brains accept one premise from their birth:
That what we see is real and solid earth,
The patterns of blue sky and bright green leaves
Bee eaters’ rainbow colors, lacey sleeves –
All beauties we are blessed with are what’s real –
What we can see and taste and smell and feel.
But quantum theory says we’re made of light
In waves, so how do we decide what’s right?
Understanding both perhaps can teach us –
Every sight of beauty that can reach us
Is not ours to grasp as a possession;
Rather it’s all part of one great lesson:
All things being one great dance of light,
Even death and darkness must shine bright.
