Hypnogogia Three: Sonnet

This Autumn sun lies lighter than the breeze
That gentled us in Summer’s twilight hour;
The butternuts lie curing in the field,
Absorbing into golden flesh sun’s power.
The whole Earth holds her breath now once again
As we approach the Mabon Equinox,
The harvest deep and rich that feeds us all
And makes of the most rigid heterodox.
Now swathed in mists, in fog of disbelief,
Like windows made opaque by cooling air,
The Autumn sun burns false division off,
Revealing Spirit that was always there.
Such beauty as lights up this nascent Fall
Burns in all creatures, people, things…in all.
