This day shines with the glory of Fall!
Sun-splashed skin smells summerish
Springy sparrow spirits sprint sprightly skyward
Winter-warning weeds wrap and writhe (ha!)
But first, Fall, fresh-pressed from all of these!
Crystal air of Winter makes a photograph
Of Summer flowers and fruits still growing
While seeds jump early to the old ground
All becomes newish and anciently sings:
The cycle of seasons, the sweet grosbeak’s wings
The patchy young cardinals–Come now future Springs
To see the well pouring out all shining things!
