Sad Sonnet

Love, teach me now to trust the world again,
To see in every face potential friend
As I once did before we met and then
After you taught me trust and love again.
I still see faces now but with a pall
Of dark suspicion cast out over all
But just a few on whose good hearts I call
To help me shed this ugly high-built wall.
My words, even, have turned to bitter dark,
No beauty, love or warm touch seems to spark
The shape of poetry, my joy’s hallmark,
Since harshness left its overarching mark.
There’s no singer in me to sing my song;
My voice is gone–I don’t know for how long.

    Don’t fear the fallow times (but you already knew that).

    Your song can never be stubbed out, it is too strong, just clear your throat and begin again.. much love and peace to you… Michelle
