Birdish Song for Summertide

Crows forged of obsidian
Sparrows carved from oak
Juncos dark and titmice light
But both made out of smoke–

Goldfinches made of, well, gold
Cardinals of blood ā€“
All these wash over our home
Like an avian flood.

Hummingbirds buzz past us
Sounding just like bumblebees
Kissing every flower
Ahead of the first freeze.

All these gather overhead
Around us and beside
Celebrating Growth and Life
In beautiful Summer-tide.
