Age Perfected (Sonnet)

How is it, my love, you grow forever
Yet more beautiful than in our youth?
This isn’t flattery nor yet persuasion –
I see clearly; all these things are truth:
Silver hair like light on ocean water –
Deep kind eyes by years of smiles enhanced –
And those hands! So knowing and so gentle –
Fine-boned feet that lead me in our dance!
Deep, warm voice whose rumble calls me to it–
Shoulders broad as ever and as strong –
Heart so filled with happiness you’ve chosen,
You make of this life one long, sweet song.
When I was young I would have just rejected
The vision I have now of Age Perfected.
