Eternal Ties (sonnet)

The moon is nearly full today and rises
Well before her natural habitat,
The night, returns to cover day’s discomforts
Gentling all the harshness of the heat.
Walk out with me and feel the mist envelope
All our limbs, and feed thus both our skins
With dampening life. Like soil webs, we grow lively
With night time’s beauty and each other’s breath.
Perpetual cycle, changing every moment,
Day turns to night and darkness back to day,
As Winter’s depth must turn through Spring to Summer
And back through Fall to Winter once again.
Through every change our hands, lips, eyes will tie
Our spirits as they change but do not die.
