While You Were Out–

Sun persuasive as love
Breeze gentle as your touch
World a green cocoon–
Small brown doe picks her steps–
A harmony of bone and tendon.

For a blessed minute,
The dogs don’t see her.

Barrage of barking
Showers like tiny hand grenades–
She flips her tail to white
Surrenders the street
Disappears beyond the dappled grass.
