Father’s Day Sonnet (first attempt)

Called out by the hot sun of your touch,
Bathed then in the warm rain of your care,
The hull of my potential finally cracked,
And let me grow into the proper mother,
Of a boy whose great intelligence,
Tempered by a heart as kind as yours,
Mind as broad, synthetic as your own,
Made him love both science and the arts.
Now he happily brings to bear the best
Of both of us and all his mind and heart
Contrive together to his fatherhood,
Growing our affection in his own.
All better futures are in this way seeded:
By shaping your son with the love he needed.
