After Long Rain

image

After long rain,
The garden glimmers–
A thousand thousand diamonds
Refract a little sunlight
Into galaxies of engagement.

Music spills from trees
Lately hushed in wind.
Where do they go, the birds,
In the middle of the storm?
I would hold them in my arms.

Here’s another great gift:
Silence or music of the sparrow
Painting the sky with different light,
Audible rays of silken light
That shine like your touch on my skin.
