Thank You

So many people
Have come and gone
Leaving only the touch
Of a butterfly’s wing,
Beautiful but invisible
And gone.

Only you stay,
My center and your own,
My fixed point
In a vortex of change,
My anchor and hope
Of whatever’s good.

When nothing else remains,
When mist obscures the light,
When I drag myself down,
Away from what I know,
You still maintain
The catalogue of my heart.

Like the constitutive rules
Of a living language,
The rhythms and rhymes
Of my mind are hidden
In the folding of your hands,
As you make me real.

Your work is impressive. I also loved the ending.

Endings are important. I think the sonnet form, with its shift in the closing couplet, is influencing the endings to my other poems.

So what do you think?
