Little Song of Gratitude

Then…
Body and mind
Bent and broken
Sacked by pain
Nearly destroyed by retribution,
I lay once, barely breathing
Except in a moan or silent scream.

Now…
Body and mind
Healed and happy
Sacked by Joy
Redeemed by lovingkindness,
I love to lie, breathing deeply,
Singing silently to your touch.
