Some Bird Haiku

Jackass blue jay brays
Stomps juncoes with big horned feet
Throws seed to the wind

Juncoes dressed like nuns
Trail through the garden with me
Barely out of reach

Sparrows work long shifts
Clean out feeders like locusts
Then clear out the slugs

Nervous chickadees
Dash in, grab seed and dash out
Little black capped thieves

Smoky grey titmice
Keep their color under wraps
Flash of orange in flight

Downies are jailers
Familiar bars on their wings
Caged suet’s not strange

Rare cedar waxwing
Painted-by-numbers beauty
Waits for red berries
