Sonnet for Gardeners Sick of Snow

A haze of snow (goddammit!) comes again!
The cold, wet crap now falls upon the ice
That miles (it felt like, anyway) of white
Had sublimated to at last on mud.
Again the sky is thumbing its great nose
At Spring and all we wanted to get done!
Again the sky gives credence to the claim
Of idiots that global warming’s false.
Oh, wasn’t it enough that icicles
Tore off our gutters and we see them lie
All twisted on the ground we would prefer
To plant now if the ground would just unfreeze?
And yet, there’s beauty in the falling snow
And time for planting gardens tomorrow.
