Death and Sex…a sonnet on two themes

I am not young nor have been for a while
Yet I know this and would swear to as much
By my right hand or, better still, by yours,
That my hair stands on end still at your touch!
Instead of cooling with advancing age,
My blood still sings to yours and yours to mine
And does so at a hotter, higher pitch
Now than when our lives were first entwined.
Our bodies age, but we still share the dream
Of gravity-free sex when once we’re done
With everything delightful we’ve enjoyed
And we both set together with the sun.
If “God’s best game” continues after death,
We’ll play together, weightless as our breath!

Thank you! I especially appreciate the concreteness of your remarks. That helps me see what’s good….and not!

So what do you think?
