This House

This house rises round me
Like a tower
Like a Coliseum
Like a cave

I once lived
A moveable life
A life on wheels
On a week here
A week there
With nothing growing

This house was built
On top of a cave
On top of a hill
On top of an older house

It waited for years
For you and me
For light and life
For decades of love

Now it grows older
We grow older
We grow lighter
We grow vegetables

A river carries us
The wind sings to us
Winter wind buffets us
Summer breeze caresses us

You tell me the truth:
Nothing will break
That cannot be repaired
So breathe and be happy.
