It Doesn’t Take Much

Today, as I stood in the snow,
The cold wind whipping fierce,
I’d worn my sweater and my coat,
But still the cold would pierce.

Then suddenly I saw a beam–
An unfamiliar thing–
It was sunlight! A memory!
A bird began to sing!

I ran upstairs and shed my coat,
Filled flats with seeding mix.
I gently placed a seed into
Each cell with name affixed.

So soon I will run back upstairs
In hopes of seedlings fine;
Once our Nardellos germinate,
Can Spring be far behind?
