Sonnet for His Touch

That same hand that first drew me to you
With such a loving touch it shocked me still
Has since that night conveyed ten thousand times
How deep, how warm, how gentle and how real
Is what a touch in all its myriad forms
Conveys when powered by natural affection,
Yet since then changed and made yet more diverse
Since time has redefined this strong connection.
So marvelously varied, so refined
In range from lightest breath to raking fire
And in effects at every turn surprise,
Delight, desire and happiness inspire.
So touch me gently or with sweet command,
This sonnet–every poem–is by your hand!
